This a late review, but realized I had not made a review. I am from Canada and I frequent Hong Kong. Last summer, I chose to work over the summer in Hong Kong. I ended having to spend my birthday away from my home and family. However, I still wanted to celebrate my birthday and I decided to celebrate it with a group of friends that I met over the summer. I had trouble finding a good place to go eat. I usually prefer Korean food, however, Korean food in Hong Kong is not that great. Therefore, I opted out to try out Japanese food (as it is better in Hong Kong compared to Canada). I had booked in advance for a large group. Fortunately, they were able to fit us even though places are usually packed or are small. They gave us basically the entire 2nd floor XD. My friends and I were greatly pleased by the ambience as it was comfortable (kinda chilly tho) and the service was very satisfying. The pricing was decent for Japanese food (affordable). The food was great. Though not necessarily amazing, it was perfect for the occasion of my birthday and very delicious for my stomach. I had gotten a curry udon and a bit of sashimi. It was a good balance as I like noodles, yet I still wanted some sashimi (but wasn't totally in the mood for sushi necessarily.) They had a nice array of choices for both vegetarians and meat lovers. In addition, they were very flexible and had many combos (which I love XD).Overall, there was nothing that I could remember, other than it being chilly (which is typical of Hong Kong), that was bad. …查看更多

I shall start from the beginning. The place is nice and comfortable. I sat down and looked at the menu. This place didn't have much variety in terms of korean food, but that's not a problem as long as what they offer is good. I am noodle person and really enjoy my noodles. I order the jamppong (the noodles in the spicy beef broth). It took around 10 minutes for the dish to come. I looked around and I saw boodaejigae. My mouth watered at the ramyun, but unfortunately because I was alone I could not order such a big meal for myself. The noodles came. The noodles were kinda stuck at the problem. The broth was okay, but most of taste was basically the spiciness. The taste entirely was okay, but it was nothing special. For a noodle shop and for the price (around HKD$75; $10 canadian), I'd wish there'd be more noodles to fill me up. There were little pieces of meat, a lot of bean sprouts and some tofu scrapes. I wish there were less beansprouts because I enjoy the noodles alone and have them within the noodles when I pick the noodles up to eat is unpleasant. The servers didn't look that happy, but they were not rude or anything. I would come back to try a different dish, but honestly there's nothing that is really driving me to come back other than my love for korean food. This restaurants needs something more for me to want to come back to restaurants. They don't really offer anything special because its not like their noodles were amazing. I may come back with friends to try the boodaejigae. If that happens, I shall review that.…查看更多

sandarella I must agree that the entire flavor of my soup came from the spicy broth other than the meat/noodles themselves; I wish they had seasoned/marinated the meat to make the dish a little more flavorful; overall, not a bad pick for a quick lunch!!!!

I came here with my hong kong friend. He said he came here previously and said it was okay. I have higher standards because I love korean food and want it to be good korean food. The service was the best part of this restaurant. The side dishes were not the best. I wasn't satisfied with kimchi. It lacked spiciness and was really dry (did not have the juiciness). We order the spicy kimchi pork dish, soon dooboo jeegae, and bibimnaengmyun. The bibimnaengmyun here is a lot better than chang won, which is a few doors down. The spicy kimchi pork dish was decent, but I would have rather gotten the regular spicy pork. The soon dooboo jeegae, however, was way below my expectation. It honestly tasted like ramyun soup meaning it tasted like there was MSG in it. The soup with the tofu just didn't taste like what I wanted. A lot of times restaurants try to change their dishes according to the people that lives in the area. However, I was looking for legit korean food. They really don't have to bend their ways just to get more customers. True korean food can attract many customers.…查看更多

I went with my friends for lunch on a Sunday dissappointed that the choices of restaurants were so limited (understandable cuz some koreans are Christians and close on Sundays). We went in and looked at the price and were hesitant. It is pretty expensive relative that of restaurants in Toronto. We order bibimnaeng myun and jajangmyun. They were both HK$100 (excluding 10% tip), which is around $13.50 Canadian. For Ja jang myun that is very expensive. Ja ja myun you would usually find as the cheapest of the menu and definitely under $10. Therefore, they overcharged a lot. They did give a big portion enough for 2 asian girls (my friends; not particarly athletic), but probably for a typicaly guy it is just enough. They used a flat and curvy kind of noodle, which is not really preferred (by me at least). However, it did taste up to par (obviously can't compare to korea; but they should really reduce the price because they CAN'T compare). For the bibimnaengmyun, IT WAS TOOO SPICY. I like spicy, but the noodles were drenched in the sauce. My friend actually asked for a less spicy, but it honestly looked like they made mine and his together and they just put less of the topping in his but both of our dishes were drenched. His was definitely not less spicy. We both could not finished because it was too spicy. I was regretting not getting the ja jang myun because it was soo much better in comparison. $100 for a korean meal (soup or noodle NOT any kind meat dish) is overpriced. It was also hard to get the waiter/waitress' attention also. The only good thing about this meal was the side dishes. I really enjoyed eating it before the dishes came.…查看更多

Hungry Korean (渣甸中心)
2014-05-10
I'm from Canada and really enjoy the korean cuisine. I knew by looking at the pictures online that the food wasn't gonna match the food in Toronto. My meal was HK$55. I got the dukkboggi, an iced milk tea, and side dishes. In toronto and in korea, side dishes usually come with your meal instead of having to pay extra for it. So Hungry Korean lost points for me on that (stick with the culture please). The dukkboggi was decent, but obviously not gourmet. However, the side dishes I was really hoping to be decent, but like it was pretty bad. The kimchi was drenched in red sauce and was basically not good kimchi (you can tell usually how good a korean restaurant is by their kimchi). The fish cakes were overly salty. I left the side dishes unfinished. I looked over at what other people ate and I was kinda glad that I didn't get what they got. One person...I think....got soon dooboo jeegae (spicy tofu soup) and basically all I can see was soup. Like I don't think you should offer spicy tofu soup if you aren't gonna make it right. That's just an example. But I think you should actually go to a restaurant to eat. Hungry Korean is not worth it even though it may be cheap. …查看更多
