There was no wait time for the table at about 8:30pm on a Monday night. We ordered soon after being seated and the food arrived promptly (within 15 minutes), all dishes arriving close together. The restaurant is on the second floor of busy wanchai, but the indian decor and music create a nice escape from the outside.  It is dimly lit, and despite being a relatively large space, still felt intimate at our table. The service was very friendly, and prompt.We ended up being the last to leave the restaurant, well past closing time, and the staff never hovered, or made us uncomfortable for staying so late. We ordered: Lamb Rogan josh:  this was a favourite at our table. the sauce was well flavoured, thick, and the meat was tender and good quality.Tandoori Fish: i was very impressed with this!  these were large chunks of beautifully seasoned fish that had great texture--thick and substantial. It could be a little more moist, but overall i found it spectacular.Butter Chicken: average.  nice balance of cream to spices.  the chicken was not the most impressive, but the sauce made up for it.Baigan Masala: this had big pieces of tender vegetables and was perfectly spiced.Palak Paneer: the paneer was your average paneer, nothing special, but the spinach curry was out of this world--i find palak paneer to usually be bland, or missing something i can't quite put my finger on, but Jojo's palak paneer was incredible.  It had a well rounded flavor, was perfectly thick, and could have been a standalone dish.Garlic Naan: average. it was cut into quarters, pretty thin. nothing remarkable, but nothing bad either.Saffron Rice: average again.  nothing wrong with average, especially when it is the base to the main dishes which were very good.Chutneys/Tamarind/Mint Chutney: their complimentary sauces felt a little lackluster.  The tamarind sauce was watery, the chutney felt like they used dried herb instead of fresh, and the chutney had huge chunks of things that were larger than the bites from the main dishes they were being paired with. Chai: this was pretty flavourless, and tasted like a black tea bag stuck in some hot milk. dissapointing considering how wonderful the rest of the meal was, and how simple it is to make great chai. Especially as chai is meant to be drank after a meal I am surprised not more effort goes into making this simple tea really special since it is the last thing patrons have to remember you by. Overall, the food was not spicy at all, but you may have to request a spicier level: this would be great for children or those who cannot tolerate much heat in their food.The serving sizes were perfect, they would be good for individual portions, or, for sharing like we did. We were a party of 5, ordered 5 main dishes, 2 rice and 1 naan and had much food leftover when we were done. We found the prices reasonable for its location, the mention of its sister restaurant in the Michelin Guide, and the quality of the food.  One more thing: although the staff didn't bother us after it closed, they also did not tell us the kitchen was closing, nor offer us a dessert menu, so it was too late to order dessert once we felt like it.  I would have loved to have tried it!…查看更多

There was about a 5 person lineup when we got there, but it moved very quickly and within minutes we could order from the somewhat disorganized menu. Not everything they have is well displayed, so there were a lot of dishes that came out for other customers that I would have liked to have had the option to choose from. We got a seat right after we ordered, and the meal came in about 10 minutes. It was quite busy, and we were here at about 3pm.Avocado and swiss sandwich: very plain, but tasted fresh and light. was not expecting anything spectacular. Mushroom and ham sandwich: much more flavor that the avocado sandwich. We have eaten here once at the restaurant, and I have since ordered many times for takeaway.At the restaurant, the atmosphere is nice and rustic (definitely not the upscale look that the website makes it out to be) but it isn't unpleasant. The waiter (owner i think) speaks very good english, is friendly, and remembered my husband from a previous visit. No table wait, as there was no one else there, but we also arrived during the afternoon break which we were unaware of, but they served us anyways. We had excellent and fast service, the dishes came out pretty quickly (15 minutes max).I have called to place an order during the afternoon break (3-6pm) for an evening delivery, but they have said that the break does not apply to delivery which is convenient. Delivery does take a long time though for being only 10 minutes away (takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes)Food: portions are quite small and WAY too expensive for what they are. (but i keep ordering because the dishes that are good are very good and tung chung has such little variety)Butter naan: DELICIOUS. it is thin, crispy, and fluffy with what tastes like real butter. Recommend this. (if you order this for delivery, you will have to bake it again in the oven or it is soggy when it arrives)Veggie samosa: good. average and what you would expect. (again, anything fried you want to re-bake it if is takeout)Chicken samosa: low average. Baigan masala: Not good. i have had this at hundreds of places. this is the worst. it was too soupy, had a very strong uknown flavour. Butter chicken. dissapointing. it tasted like poor quality chicken (dark meat). and it had an unpleasant smoky flavour to it. Palak Paneer: fantastic. I have ordered this many times for takeaway. recommend.Yellow Daal: probably the best daal i have ever had. fantastic spices, good veggies. recommend.Mint chutney: quite thick, but good.Malai kulfi: so good. Rose soda: this came out fluorescent pink, but besides the obvious artificial colour, tasted good.Masala tea (chai): tastes home-made. creamy, and spicy. very satisfying. ordered a second one.Veggie Pakora: this was heavy on the fried batter, but the inside was delicious large pieces of fresh veggies. i am used to sliced mixed veggies, but the whole pieces were equally good.Chicken tikka: the chicken was mostly dark meat (which was disappointing for us, but may be something others like), but moist.Chicken tikka masala: the masala sauce was good-creamy, well spiced, although we didn't think to order it spicy enough--it might have been better this way.Gulab Jamun: too soft. i prefer when i can bite into it rather than it just dissolving in my mouth.Ice cream (Malai Kulfi): this came to the table and all of a sudden there was an overwhelming aroma of something like Lysol. it might have been the rose water? i don't know--it just tasted very perfumey. the texture was also inexplicably gritty. mint chutney: DELICIOUStamarind chutney: DELICIOUSButter naan: very doughy, not crispy, no discernible butter. but a large portion which would have been a plus if it was better naan.Atmosphere: we walked in to the restaurant and it looked like a windowless cave with fluorescent blue mood lighting. and it smelled like a dirty public restroom. not a good first impression. (to get there you either have to go up a cramped service elevator or a frighteningly dirty stairwell). but, when we first arrived at the mansion, we were greeted at the door with the restaurant promoters who led the way through the maze up to the elevator which was helpful.Service: we arrived shortly after 6pm and there was a table right away. service was prompt and friendly. there seemed to be a ratio of one waiter per table so it appeared bustling especially for the small size of the place.Overall, the meal and atmosphere were disappointing. But the chai is something I would come back for if I was in the area, and the chutneys would make me want to order the samosas next time to eat them with.…查看更多

We just moved to Hong Kong, and hang out in Happy Valley regularly; we wanted to find a good restaurant that we can come back to for dependable good food. Brown did not disappoint!The food was delicious, service was prompt and friendly, and for a Thursday night, we got a table right away. The place is clean and modern, but a little dark.We ordered the poutine, a veggie quesadilla, and a parma ham/fig salad which were tasty, fresh, and a good size portion. The poutine had lots of gravy, and lots of cheese--which are important features for me. Would order these again. One thing that was odd was that the can of coke was 45 dollars, which seems steep. …查看更多
