Was at Central at nine something. Having eaten some yogurt before I left home, a cup of nice, smooth hot milk tea was all i want. I read about the Swiss Cafe on some magazines before and so we searched for the cafe along Li Yuen Street West. The cafe was modestly behind the yet-to-be-opened stalls, and it was not eye-catching at all. I was amazed by the spacious interior and the old-fashioned decor. The menu was truly extensive-i was particularly amazed by the long list of toasts and breads available! As a matter of fact the cafe has just listed out all possible combination of jam, butter and toasts. Still it was fun to look at.

There were over 12 breakfast sets available, but since i had eaten, i ordered a hot milk tea and nothing else. M had a toast set with peanut butter and butter, and it cost a terrifyingly $12 - what a steal!

Much to our disappointment, the toast was not that thick as it appeared to be, and it looked pretty burnt on the edges - resembling a fried reddish cake you find in chaa laus. Despite the burnt the toast was pretty soft and bland in taste. Too bad.

My milk tea was pretty sweet even without any sugar, and it was quite milky in taste and texture. It was the mild version and was pretty smooth, although not as smooth as what you find in Cheung Heung Yuen. It was a stark contrast to the strong milk tea at Tsui Wah. Still it was pretty nice and worth a 7.5/10.

As we sat and eat the cafe kept on paking breakfasts for take-away orders. I think this place must be a popular breakfast spot for a lot of OLs in Central - and it was indeed cheap to eat at. The toast was not particularly impressive however.

Despite its decor similar to an old-fashioned bing suut, it had failed to serve milk teas and, most importantly, toasts of a similar quality to a lot of genuinely aged chaa chen tangs and bing suuts. It might be a good place to eat at for some nostalgic people but not for me. I would rather go to Tsui Wah for its piggy bun and stronger milk tea if i were nearby for breakfast next time.
