It's difficult to decide what to eat on a busy Sunday night, especially in a popular area like Mong Kong. However, we decided to give this restaurant a go and there were still quite a few seats left. This is surprising because it's truly such a bargain place for Japanese food.Though the interior design is not exactly the most classy, it sure makes up for it in their food. They have a discount for different dishes everyday and on this fine Sunday, it was the sashimi platter ($48). I felt that the salmon sashimi was really fresh and thickly cut. The shrimp and tuna were quite good too, though the hamachi sashimi was a little bit bland (8/10)
We also ordered the beef and tofu pot ($50). It was served sizzling hot and the soup was really flavourful. We decided to order an extra bowl of udon to feed our hunger. The portion was just right, without being too little, or too bloating (8.5/10)
Thirdly, we ordered the assorted sashimi rice ($68). I was relatively less impressed with this dish because I felt that the amount of sashimi we got was quite insufficient. There were two or three pieces of salmon, some crab roe, a cooked shrimp and a raw shrimp and that basically summed up the entirety of it. I suppose there were lots of cucumbers and eggs, but that didn't quite appeal to me too much. (5.5/10)
Lastly, we ordered the black sesame ramen ($60). This dish was rather average, in a sense that it was delicious, but eerily tasted a little bit like instant noodles. The portion was quite large for sure and it was very filling. (6.5/10)
Overall, I felt that the food was quite decent and the price is definitely rather cheap for Japanese cuisine.
