Taste: 特製什錦豬骨湯拉麵 Higomonzu Ramen- I was really looking forward to taste this ramen. As i have heard so many positive reviews about this place. So decided to go for the ramen which has everything. it consist of ramen ofc with Roast pork, stewed pork, shredded black fungus, egg, some veg, spring onions. The soup base looks milky white. Was hoping for some thick and rich soup. But instead it was quite watery and not as rich as it should be. And could taste some garlic flavour. Having had ramen from places like Butau - http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2141604. Their soup is much thicker and the taste is so rice. Unfortunately here, the soup is quite watery and doesnt seem to have been made hours with lots of pork bone. Just isnt the same. The noodles are thin egg noodles. It is okay, It wasnt over done, but i wouldnt say it had a good texture. Maybe I prefer thick ramen. It is the first time I have had spring onions with ramen and t does ruin it. even the ramens I have had in Japan does not come with spring onion. the roast pork was fairly thick. This is probably the thickest i have had in Hong Kong. i liked that
The taste was good, although not as good as the stew pork. It was abit dry. Could have been more moist and juicier. the stew pork was awesome. they were big and juicy. you can tell they have been marinaded for long time. The pork were half fat and half lean. Myself do not like fat meat, so i tore off a bit at the top. but there are still some fats in it, which amkes it quite soft and less hard and tough. it kinds of melts in your mouth. I liked it, probably best part of teh ramen. Yummmmm. the half boiled egg was tasteless and quite small. if they could marinade the egg bit more, or even put white sesame on it, would be much better. i would advise to eat the egg with some f the sup to add some taste to it.

紅燉豬肉鹵蛋 Stewed Pork and Egg - This came before the ramen and boy, it looked really different to the actual hoto. i must say quite disapointing. But the taste on the other had was good. the stewed pork was so nicely marinaded, you can taste it with every bite, was tender and juicy. couldnt have enugh of it but as it is half fat and half lean meat, it was so tender. I removed some of the fat though, too fatty. The egg was horrible. was bland and the runny yolk has already half run out. The pork is definately recommended. you get about 6 in a plate. i loved it.

Conclusion: i would not say this is authentic place for ramen or japanese food, but i have to admit it is better than some japanese place that says they are authentic. i did see some Japanese costumers and did see some japanese waiters. but i also saw some philipines waiters. I loved the decor, there were many seats and with bar seats too. we sat at bar seats which i prefer as you dont need tos hare a table with people and more privacy. I went at 9.30pm and there was a queue but not a huge queue. within 15mins we were seated by the bar. we were served a warm tea. There are 3 menu, the a la carte menu with the ramen, then the drink menu and a speality menu. We decided order 1 ramen first and see if is any good then we will order another. but ofc it was not as good as it seem, so we did not order another one. We shared the ramen. Somehow if you know we ordered one ramen between 2 of us, you would automatically think we need another extra empty bowl, but no, they were considerate enough, we had to ask. So they gave us a VERY small bowl that could probably fiit ONE stew pork and an egg. Then I had to ask them for another spoon as there was only one spoon. i think they can touch up on their service, this will make their costumers feel they actually care about costumers satisfactory. also, they never collected the emnu back for us. So here was the pile of menus in front of me, then the ramen came and the plate of stewed pork, he was so lazy to move the menu infront of me, he decided to use the bowl (which he was serving to me) to push the menu further up. which Ofc he did not succeed, so WE as costumers moved the menu out of teh wayFOR HIM. How lazy was that?

to be honest, I dont think i would return. It was average price and I sat comfortably, but the service nad food was average. there are better places and there are worst. But most importantly, overall they made me unsatisfied and there are many great new places to try in Hong kong, why would i queue up for a place that hasnt got one excellent point about it?
