There are some restaurants that I consider solid. Menu is in English and Chinese complete with photos. When we sat down, we were presented with two glasses of tea. It's been a while since I've been here but wasn't the tea served in a teapot?
Chilled Pork Jelly in Zhenjiang Style ($63). This was thickly cut. It wasn't delicate in taste and had a rough texture. It wasn't crisp and refreshing. This was surprising as it was so poorly made.
Xiao Long Bao ($38 for four). The wrapping was thick. There also wasn't a lot of juice inside. The meat was also dry.
Shanghai Style Sauteed Rice Flour Cake ($73). Surprisingly, this was bland. It looked dark in color. I was all prepared for it to be salty but instead it was flavorless. It was so odd while we were munching away.
I have no idea what has happened. A place I've never been disappointed with, I am now. The food was poorly made. The place looked a little run down as well. We sat there stunned by how the quality of the food was not how we once remembered it. Will most likely not be back.
