Yuen Long has always been a place where excellent food can be found at every corner of the district, despite its inconvenience. Since we were planning to come here for some hiking in the noon and doing some research on Openrice, there is a buffet restaurant that serve decent food at very affordable pricing. Upon looking at their pricing placed on the banner, there is a huge price difference between lunch and dinner. Price was almost the same for lunch and customers leaving before 7pm. After 715pm onwards, it was almost twice the price. For lunch buffet, time was restricted to 90 minute, while dinner was 2 hours. Once we were seated not long, lines of customers began to walk in to enjoy their more than affordable buffet. They attract mainly office crowd, uncles and aunties who need not work.
From the look of the photos, they have quite a wide spread of food to select from. They range from BBQ & grilled items, ready-to-eat food, sashimi & sushi, soups, drinks & desserts.
Fried udon was quite springy, garlic onion was crispy and very strong garlic taste. Chicken nugget,wedges and takoyaki was quite soft and not that warm. For people who are lazy to bbq, they serve decent ready food that can fill up your stomach pretty quickly.
Sushi and sashimi were nothing to shout about. I do not expect much from buffet restaurant, as the quality definitely could not compare to a full pledged sushi restaurant. Sashimi was considered fresh and tasty. As for sushi, rice was a little hard.
As for the soup, i go for chicken ginseng soup. It has very strong ginseng smell, overpowering the chicken taste in it. For people who liked ginseng, it is one not to be missed.
Shop owners were quite thoughtful to think of a way to bbq their food easier. A piece of paper filter was placed below those food, so that the food will not be attracted to the BBQ metal grill and is healthier as well. Waiter will help to change the paper filter from time to time as well. I enjoyed their BBQ portion the most. Meat ranges from seafood, fish, pork, chicken and beef etc. When cooked, it was very tender and juicy for most of them.
Finally, i choose green bean taro soup and tiramisu as desserts. There is a lot of ingredients in the soup, but was abit tasteless. Tiramisu was decent, able to taste choco in it. Overall, this is a place that i could not complain much. They serve good BBQ items at very affordable pricing during lunch. Even during weekends, their lunch pricing was almost similar to weekday. No wonder they were able to attract a lot of customers during lunch.
