Makan Makan, meaning "let's go eat", has been one of my favorite Malaysian restaurants in HK since its opening a couple years ago.For the drinks, we picked Teh Tarik - earthy black tea and Banana Papaya Fresh Milk - creamy like a smoothie. Bak Kut Teh (Sui Kut)
Star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds, yu zhu... Intense meat and herbal flavors. Most of all, unlimited refill of the soup!! So exciting! I could probably have 4 bowls of this haha.
Fried Water Spinach with Makan Special Sauce
The special sauce tasted ginger, garlic and dried seafood. Savory and aromatic. Crunchy water spinach.
Rendang Beef with Lard Rice
Malaysian curry beef stew. Super tender beef that had soaked up the flavors of the spices. Unlike the Cantonese style curry with MSG and thickener, this only consisted of natural spices and coconut milk. Also served with Makan special sauce on the side.
Fried Brussels Sprouts
+$28 in addition to the lunch menu. Such a big portion. Soft and not bitter at all.
With their consistent food quality and fair prices, Makan Makan totally worths revisiting.
