Visually the dessert was impressive, the 5 tang yuen were massive compared to another dessert place I have been to before and for a decent price.
The impression on my first bite of the tong yuen was that sesame paste was overly sweet.
The walnut paste was a little on the watery side but nevertheless good.
The second visit I wanted to try the a mixture of the sesame (to give it a second test) and peanut tang yuen.
I was given my order and when I put the first tang yuen into my mouth the server asked me you wanted a mix right? I replied yes....I was given sesame only so I didn’t get to try the peanut filling. My opinion of the sesame paste remained the same, that it is overly sweet.
The server seemed genuinely apologetic about so it was OK.
The third visit I ordered peanut only, now this was good.
As with the sesame there is a generous amount of filling and thin skin.
The filling was very peanut and less sweet which was better suited my palate.
And soup was not too sweet and had a nice hint of spicy ginger.
Overall a decently priced and exceptional tang yuan, I do think the sesame is sweet but you can't please everyone right? Once you have been here you realise how small the tang yuen is elsewhere.
