We've been to The Coffee Academics twice - first time we sat downstairs and had coffee/breakfast. The experience was okay, although there was a bit of chaos when we were getting seated - during their soft open, there were 2 different entrances, hence the staff couldnt tell which party arrived first. Nevertheless, the restaurant wasn't too packed so the waiting time was short. The coffee there is good, although the food variety was very limited downstairs. The hostess suggested that we try th
Yesterday we tried the brunch venue upstairs. Without any booking arrangement, we walked in at 130pm. Not sure if it's because of the festive season, but the pricing was very expensive for their "semi-buffet". Price tag was 330 plus service charge per head for brunch, which is fine, if the quality is there. Later on I was surprised that they only offer regular brunch food like pumpkin butternut soup, sea cockles, chocolate cake, salad and more salad in the self-serve stations. The main courses were ok. I ordered a breakfast platter, which came with a sausage, a slice of bacon, a hash brown pancake, 2 cherry tomatoes, some scrambled eggs and bread. My wife ordered a salmon platter, which was okay in quality although the portion was rather small.
All in all -- if they charge me festive season prices, they should have offered a much better variety of food. Where is the Turkey with Stuffing? Where is the Smoked Ham? Where is the Seafood Platter? No wonder there was 0 waiting time and the restaurant was less than 30% full. If I wanted to try the type of food they offered, I could have gone to The Brunch Club down the block and paid half the price.
