加藤屋 (English name: Katoya) is a fast food chain that oddly brings you the beef bowls you love from Yoshinoya and the hot sizzling beef plates from Pepper Lunch .. all in one shop! It's like the best of both fast food places in one. An it's also half the price. Boyfriend had been here several times and I was curious. So he brought me to the shop close to his home.Menu is in Chinese but there is an English menu available upon asking. As it's a fast food set up like McDonald's, there is no 10% serv
Menu is in Chinese but there is an English menu available upon asking. As it's a fast food set up like McDonald's, there is no 10% service charge. Items also come with a drink.
Chicken Pot Set ($45) in clear soup is what I had. It was like the hot pot but instead of a flame underneath, they just put it in a hot stone bowl with everything in it. It comes with rice but you can change it to udon (which boyfriend did for me). The soup was really salty. I could feel the MSG. There also was a lot of stuff in my pot. Chicken, egg, imitation crab sticks, tofu puffs. Corn and veggies. It was a lot! And portions were more than generous.
Beef Pot Set ($45) in Suikiyaki soup is what boyfriend had. He said this is his regular item as the soup reminded him of the Yoshinoya hot pot soup but just more salty. There was beef strips in his that were ok.
Crispy Fried Potato Stick ($10) as something we shared. This was pretty good. Very crunchy and heavily seasoned. I wish there was ketcup.
The food was really salty and yes, heavily laced with MSG. But it was better than I expected. I guess I had low expectations going in. It's cheap. But I probably won't be back as no location is near where I live and inconvenient to go to.
