Thanks to the Gold Coast Hotel for their Sunday champagne brunch tasting invitation at The Atrium Lobby Lounge. Prior to this, I always thought that Tuen Mun was far and inconvenient to get to, but discovered that the hotel actually offers a shuttle from TST which was pretty convenient and fast as the ride only took half an hour. The food selection was vast and varied with probably the most amount of food I've seen at a buffet such as goose liver, lobster soup, salami, fish, etc. I stopped by the cooked food selection with the peking duck and spring chicken first which were sliced upon ordering. When I ordered the peking duck, I noticed that the chef cut off the fat under the skin for me which was pretty considerate. Served with a wrap and hoisin sauce, the peking duck was enjoyable to eat with its crispy skin. The chicken was also served in the same way but the duck was better in my opinion.

I was also attracted by the wide selection of meat at the cutting station which included beef, lamb, ham, and pork. The prime rib was pretty good but unfortunately as the meat was not kept on a hot plate, it didn't taste as good at a cold temperature.

The seafood selection was also vast with shrimps, crabs, clams, scallops, lobsters, etc. My favorite was the crab legs as they were very fresh and flavorful. The others like the lobster was a bit bland and tough to eat.

Fresh salmon was available as well with different flavors like miso and pepper.

I was surprised to see sashimi here as well so I picked a few to try like the octopus, salmon, tuna, and amaebi. The fish was not that fresh though with a frozen flavor. The amaebi was probably the best of the bunch.

While I'm not a big cheese person, the cheese selction here seemed pretty huge and impressive.

The vegetarian section with different kinds of salad helped to balance out my diet with lighter and refreshing choices.

I was excited to see a chocolate fountain as part of the dessert! You can dip marshmallow, cookies, and fruits in it. While it was fun to dip into, I found the chocolate to be a bit oily as well which may be inevitable as the chocolate needs a oily texture to flow down the fountain.

Besides the chocolate fountain, a buffet of jello shots, puddings, and cakes were available as well as 2 desserts which were freshly made upon ordering - lava chocolate cake and waffle with mango and pastachio. While the choices were abundant, none really stood out in my mind as most were just average. The waffle wasn't quite crispy enough while the lava chocolate cake was oily as well.

For the amount of food offering and unlimited alcohol, the Sunday champagne brunch offers a good value while some of the food needs improvement. It can be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
