We were here for a dinner after spending the evening in discovery bay. I read the reviews on Open Rice and thought it'd be nice to give this place a go. It was very laid back and the view of fireworks was pretty much amazing. We started off with a plate of Zaks Nachos, a smoothie and a soup of the day (carrot). The carrot soup tasted diluted and pretty much tasted like water. We had the waitress cancel it and take it off our bill. The lychee drink was refreshing but the nachos with mozarella were disappointing. The nachos were clearly from a pack of cheese supremo flavored Doritos. Needless to say i was absolutely annoyed following the watered down soup.
The fajitas were quite ordinary with no real spiced tastes just vegetables on a hotplate served with tortilla bread, sour cream ,guacamole and salsa. Neither of us could finish the dish.
The desserts were slightly better with the banoffi almost saving our evening. Both desserts were plated well but the malteser cheesecake tasted like it was malt infused rather than malteser infused, leaving a sandy taste in our mouths. The lunch menu looks more appetizing than their full dinner menu so hopefully there's a change at some point.
Overall i can only recommend their Banoffi and it would only be good for enjoying the view with a few beers or cocktails and desserts. Maybe their other food tastes less like it came out of a cardboard box.
