After a Sunday exploring Central, it started to rain. So we decided to call it a day and order take away to take home with us. Thinking of having kebabs, we discovered a new place on the way there called Smash Boys Burgers. Located on the stairs near Tai Kwun, an area where I used to sit outside after a night out in Lan Kwai Fong. It's a small take away only shop.
Menu is in English only. As it's take away only, there is no 10% service charge. They have a combo set that costs $120. This includes a canned soft drink, any burger and fries. A special drink is an additional $8. The special drink is basically a Kirin beer.
They have five burger choices with photos of what they look like so you get an idea. Apparently all the burgers are double beef patties so expect lot of meat. As it's made to order, there is a bit of a wait.
They packaged the burgers in sturdy paper boxes with the names of what we ordered on top so we didn't need to guess. Everything was packed in a paper bag that didn't fall apart. Everything was intact all the way home.
We ordered two burgers with one set of fries as I don't eat that much fries and boyfriend added a Kirin beer. The amount of fries was a lot so it was a good thing we did share them. They were also the big thick cut kind. Well fried as it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. As it was made to order, it was piping hot.
I had the All Day Breakfast ($98). It had two wagyu beef patties, fried egg, bacon, cheese, caramelized onions and the SB Special Sauce all with a sesame bun. The burger was messy but a good messy. The juices from the patties just slid all over. But despite all that, the burger still held together well without falling apart. The bun was good and slightly toasted. The cheese melted well onto the beef patties. The bacon was crispy and the egg was cooked just right as the yolk was done but not over done. The sauce was tangy and sweet.
Boyfriend had the Mexicana ($98). It had two waygu patties, salsa, cheese, guacomole and Mexicana sauce with brioche bun. The sauce was very spicy and we found a bit of Jalepeno in it. Like the other burger, it was also juicy and messy but held together well. The cheese was wonderfully melted into the patty. The salsa was fresh and the guacomole was rich.
The burgers were really good. Juicy and well put together. Service was friendly and helpfull when we asked what was recommended. The combo deal is a fair price as well especially if you want to add on a beer. I can definitely see this being very popular especially on a late Saturday night.
