With a reputation as a Singaporean as well as a satay joint, I came due to the large amount of Openrice reviews to satisfy my Singaporean craving and curiousity. I came in with high expectations and left dissappointed. The restaurant itself was quite empty when I went in (around 7pm weeknite) which is good as it wasn't too noisy. Took a while to get the waiter's attention to order as there was a lack of staff on duty that night. I ordered two hainan chicken rice, 4 chicken satays and 4 pork satays. Unlike most other places, the ingredients were served seperately, Tsui Wah style, where the rice is in a bowl and the chicken on a seperate plate. The rice was pretty good, cooked in chicken broth and flavored...good to eat on its own. The chicken on the other hand was not good, very rubbery and not seasoned good and took a while to chew. Definitley not seasoned well enough and the chili sauce that accompanied the chicken was.....extremely bland. Chicken and pork satays were decently cooked although slightly dry. However, it seems the hygene is not up to par here as I saw alot of food lying around not taken care of outside the kitchen. PRobably would not come again.
