This used to be called Green Cottage, though it has now been done up to the same standards as the Barn bar below, which is actually quite an improvement on the previous decor. It's got TV's everywhere and quite a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We ordered the Rare Beef Pho x2, Morning Glory (tung choi) prawn rice rolls and spring rolls with lettuce. The Pho was decent, although it did not come with the typical herbs. We ordered the Rare Beef Pho x2, Morning Glory (tung choi) prawn rice rolls and spring rolls with lettuce.
The Pho was decent, although it did not come with the typical herbs. I asked for lime and chilli and recieved 1/8th of a lime, which really wasn't enough for the dish, but I asked for more anyway and they brought me another 1/8th of a lime, which sufficed. The only issue I had with the Pho is that it was very overloaded with MSG - my favourite thing about Pho is the beautiful clear flavours and drinking the soup: but the soup here is not drinkable due to the MSG overloading the dish with saltyness (but this is Hong Kong afterall!).
The prawn rice rolls, morning glory (with chilli shrimp paste) and spring rolls were both very good. Service was decent - a lot of waiters and waitresses which made it easy to get that extra lime when needed!
Definitely a good place to stop off- the total bill was $240 which is very good for the amount ordered.
If anyone knows of a place that does pho with no MSG please let me know! I'm on a mission to find the best one in Hong Kong.
