My wife and I went to Teddy's tonight, arriving at a quarter past nine. It was our third visits in about one year, twice by ourselves and once with a group of about ten friends. There were occupied two tables and it's quite. Waiter was polite but not too enthuciastic. We ordered the $ 348 set with a soup and salad, a grilled snail, a steak, a risoto, and two desserts. We ordered the $ 348 set with a soup and salad, a grilled snail, a steak, a risoto, and two desserts. The bread, as P.J. said, was liked buying from supermarket. Points shall be deducted for that. The soup (cream of apple and potato) and salmon salad were okay. The grilled snail surprised us for its freshness, combining with essence and tasty garlic flavour.
Main courses were above standard. The medium Sirloin steak accompanied by a piece of goose liver was spectacular, comparable if not exceeding those five-star-hotel. Italian spinach rice with grilled prawn made a perfect match: traditional risoto was too heavy, mixing it with lots of spinach neutralize the cheese element (but not jeopardise the taste). Perfect match!
We like Teddy's tiramisu, because unlike those heavy tiramisu (from Cova or Armaroni), it offered an alternative of not too cheesy and heavy.
Frankly, this is not the best restaurant in town. It neither has the awesome decoration liked Gaddis or J.W. California, nor does it offers beyond imagination services such as expert sommelier or see-and-be-seen bar table. What it gives is simplicity, simple food with little bid of surprises, and a life style that snobbish people do not understand.
