I was really glad my lunch appointment was cancelled at short notice as I dislike meeting people for lunch every day of the week. So today, I have the chance to go the the bank to do much needed arrangements. The Petit Cafe has probably been opened a few months ? The entrance is not obvious and at first I thought it was a temporary coffee spot. When I walked in, I saw that it actaully has quite a few tables and chairs and tables with sofa chairs. The Petit Cafe has probably been opened a few months ? The entrance is not obvious and at first I thought it was a temporary coffee spot. When I walked in, I saw that it actaully has quite a few tables and chairs and tables with sofa chairs. There are tables and chairs outdoor too but only sit there if you smoke as there are lots of people having smoking breaks.
The menu seems to be simple, Western and well presented. I went for a smoked turkey and brie baguette with freshly squeezed carrot juice. The lady warmed up the baguette sandwich by pressing it in a sandwich maker grill. The baguette texture reminds me of that of Cafe du The at Robuchon, hard and crunchy on the outside and light inside. The filling was laced with good quality olive oil. The carrot juice was sweet and in a big plastic cup. As it was nearly 3pm when I got there, it was easy to find a table. I later saw them put out some tea items, smaller sandwich rolls, small pieces of carrot cakes and other desserts.
As I left, I saw that Starbucks next to HSBC is closed, I am not sure if this is permanent but The Petit Cafe seems like a much better choice for the same types of things.
