They had Hainan chicken rice which is not Vietnamese but it seems a lot unauthentic Vietnamese places offer this item. I don't know why.

They had a two people set but we weren't too interested in it so skipped it.

Avocado Smoothie ($29 but $20 with a food order). Boyfriend ordered this as he loves the avocado smoothie at the Vietnamese place in Sham Shui Po and he was curious how this would be. It wasn't very green but looked more brow in color. It might have been made ahead of time, thus started to oxidize. It also tasted more like milk than avocado. It seemed they didn't add much avocado at all.

Hue Style Spicy Beef Pho ($55).  Boyfriend ordered this as well ... gotta try out the pho.  The bowl was hot but the soup? Was lukewarm bordering on cold. Even after covering the raw beef to the bottom of the bowl, it was still raw. It just didn't heat up the beef at all. The soup, itself, didn't have any beef flavor but just a general MSG flavored soup base. The noodles were the usual rice noodles found in many unauthentic places.

Viet Sausage  and Shredded Chicken Cold Vermicelli ($55). I had this as it was too hot for hot soup. But then again, boyfriend's pho was not hot anyways. The chicken meat was tough and hard to chew. The Vietnamese sausage had huge chunks of fat in it. The vermicelli fell apart when I mixed it with the fish sauce. And the sauce! It was tasted more like water.

Banh Mi with Lemongrass Pork ($45). I think the worst was this. Boyfriend and I shared this as we are always looking for a good banh mi in Hong Kong (something we still haven't found).  The bread was just a crispy bun used for hot dogs.  The lemongrass pork was not pork at all. It was deep fried spam. And the pickled vegetables? Not pickled at all. It was sad.

I had a bad feeling while sitting there waiting for our food as there was a table of expats near us who mentioned they should have gone to BEP instead. These people were like us. Searching for good Vietnamese like how we had it back home. Good and cheap. We are constantly searching but sadly we end up just wolfing down as much Vietnamese whenever we fly home because it doesn't exist in Hong Kong.  I've grown to just accept Hong Kong style Vietnamese as long as it tastes fine. But this place was terrible. And just like a cha chan teng, the staff took away my half empty glass of water while they were taking away our empty bowls and wiped the table  to say yeah, it's time to leave. Definitely not be back.
