Whenever i walked past this popular ramen stall, it was mostly packed and people queuing up. As i was around Wanchai area today and nearing lunch time, I noticed that Fuunmaru was not full yet, thus i quickly took this opportunity to see if their ramen was really worth trying. It was located at W square, in between of Wanchai and Causeway Bay MTR. For a ramen stall, their menu was very comprehensive and extensive. For a ramen stall, their menu was very comprehensive and extensive. They offered mainly tsukemen, which is dipped ramen noodles. They offered several flavours for tsukemen, and light dishes, drinks and desserts etc.
Gekkeikan sake - The waiter told me that this drink was newly launched and since the alcohol content was quite low, I decided to try it. True enough, it was sparkling sweet and clear, with strong grape flavour and light sake taste.
Tsukmen with egg - It was served in a hot stone pot with fish powder pork bone soup base. It came with a large slice of grilled pork, bamboo shoots and a lava egg. The texture of the soup was thick and very flavourful, and it goes well with the noodles which was chewy. Egg was soft and smooth, with the york flowing out easily. Grilled pork has a nice combination of lean meat and fats, making it juicy and chewy.
Pan fried dumplings in spicy & mayo sauce - Their presentation was quite unique in a way that all 5 dumplings were sticked together, with crispy edges at the side. It was crispy outside, and yet the dumplings inside were smooth and soft, and the spicy sauce making it more flavourful.
Yuzu sorbet - This sorbet was crystal white in the cup, and was easily scooped off. It was icy cold and refreshing, helping to clear off those after taste. There were few yuzu bits in it as well.
