I went to Pancake Colours Cafe and Bar one summer day after dinner with friends to get dessert. There was a nice man outside the cafe who ushered us in and seemed very genuinely enthusiastic about the place. The environment seems very 'funky' and 'retro' - it's different from other places and I like it like that. The chairs were mismatched but I guess that's part of the cafe's charm/decor.My friends and I sat down and we got the dessert menu, the pictures looked really nice. We all got pancakes.
My friends and I sat down and we got the dessert menu, the pictures looked really nice. We all got pancakes. I got the Banana American Pancake. It looked good in the picture, but the real thing was a little disappointing.
The pancake wasn't really a pancake, it was just like cake. It was dry and it would break into crumbs easily - I choked on it. It reminded me of the sweet bread used to make japanese red bean sandwiches (I don't know what they're called). Luckily, I like this type of bread, so I just ate it and didn't complain. The pancakes were probably not fresh because they weren't warm. After waiting 30 minutes for the pancakes, you would expect them to be made from scratch or something but no, they weren't.
Overall, I would say this cafe is just average. I was disappointed with their pancakes - they were hyped up in the menu, but they weren't like pancakes at all. Service was so-so, there were never any waiters around when we wanted to place an order or call for the check.
I probably won't visit again for their dessert. Their dinners/main courses looked good, but so did the pancakes - but they turned into a disappointment.
One positive aspect of this cafe would be they have a wide variety of foods.
