I arrived at this restaurant at 1:30pm on the third day of Chinese New Year. There were very few people waiting. I was told at the reception that as more tables are freed up I would get a table, probably in around 15-20 minutes. My name and phone number were noted down, but when I asked the receptionist to explicitly tell me how many tables I still had to wait for, she tried to answer indirectly. I was told at the reception that as more tables are freed up I would get a table, probably in around 15-20 minutes. My name and phone number were noted down, but when I asked the receptionist to explicitly tell me how many tables I still had to wait for, she tried to answer indirectly. I should have taken this as a warning sign (that the queuing system isn't going to be fair) and gone somewhere else. But as there were really few people waiting I chose to sit down and wait at the sofa area. Subsequently more and more people arrived and the waiting area became full. Among all the people waiting, I noticed that we were the only Hong Kong people there and all the others were mainlanders. From time to time when the receptionists were free, they would talk to the waiting people to reassure them (they never talked to us). One by one the other groups (most arrived later than we did and of similar group size as us) were called and given tables and we were still waiting. After some 40 minutes we decided enough is enough and left. To Hong Kong people a 40-minute waiting time is no big deal. I am willing to wait much longer as long as the system is fair. But for this restaurant it is clear that they have chosen to adopt a queuing system which favours mainland people and punishes HK people. I will never visit this restaurant myself and will not recommend it to anyone. If they favour mainlanders so much then they should get out of Hong Kong and open restaurants directly in the mainland.
