Noodle Stand is a new restaurant that serves noodles and dim sum. It's an odd location whereby you have to go down the stairs to reach it. It has two entrances. One on Percival Street next to the Nike Shop and the other is on the other side on Tang Lung Street across from the mini bus stand. As I live near Causeway Bay and eat in this area quite a bit, I noticed it but always forgot to give it a try as there are a lot of other options in the area.On this day, boyfriend and I came here to give it

On this day, boyfriend and I came here to give it a try. So, down the stairs we went!

The layout was modern and tidy. There was an open kitchen where they made the bowls of noodles. It wasn't very busy on a weekend and we had our choice of seats. It seemed everyone sat at the seats with couches. I can understand why as the plastic seats looked unbearably uncomfortable. Menu is on a clipboard and is in Chinese only. I'm unsure if there is English but one could ask as they did have English written on the door informing people they were open for business and what they served. We noted that prices were a bit steep for a noodle place. Dim sum ranged for prices that are typical of actual Chinese restaurants that served dim sum rather than the lower end 24 hours a day casual dim sum places that pop up all over town. Noodles were typically wonton, beef brisket, fish balls but they had sets that ranged from $50 - 120 and only included vegetables or dessert. This was in the price range of Chee Kei which has a similar noodle set and I think more people would probably prefer that place for wonton than here.

Anyways as it was afternoon tea session, they had noodle sets for $28. Noodles to choose from were wonton, fish stick, and fish ball. All came with a hot drink. Add $2 for cold. We added $2 for cold.

I thought this was cleverly designed as it's chopsticks stuffed inside a chopstick holder. Pull it out and ta-dah! Chopstick holder set!

Fish Ball Noodles ($28). The soup was pretty decent and very sweet. The noodles were springy and not soggy at all. No starchy aftertaste. The fishballs were pretty good and bouncy enough. I added $2 for an ice tea. Size was huge for ice  tea but it was also watered down.

Fish Stick Noodles ($28). Boyfriend ordered this and the fish sticks were ok. Not great. Not bad. Just your average fish sticks.

As there weren't a lot of customers, there were far too many staff that had nothing to do but stand around talking and playing with their phones. Though they were attentative when a hand was raised. I didn't notice anyone order dim sum and we didn't order as well. My over all impression was the noodles were pretty decent but a bit over priced for what they are charging. Especially in the Causeway Bay area there is already a famous wonton noodle shop just down the street that is charging the same price and various excellent Chinese restaurants serving dim sum for the same price range (and sometimes a little less) and low budget 24 hour dim sum places just around the corner. The layout is clean and modern, a definite good target audience for people like me who like to eat in tidy comfortable places. An attraction but price wise, I think these same people (like me) would go elsewhere. Add that there is a 10% service charge (though it is waived now due to it being newly opened).

I overheard the owners discussing new combos to attract customers. I think this is wise and if they decided on a combo of noodles plus dim sum at an attractive price, it would definitely draw a few more people in.

May or may not return. Will see how they improve first.
