It is an exclusive dish, which is much liked by my friend. No oil was needed to fry the bacon since bacon itself gives out substantial amount of oil already. While I recommend the interesting dish, if you are not a bacon lover, like me, you might find the dish too meaty.
Sea urchin and salmon rice in kamameshi $138
‘Kama’ means the iron pot and ‘meshi’ means rice. There are no fixed rules for the ingredients so there are endless combinations. Kamameshi here is cooked with chestnut, egg pieces, and mushroom; we chose the fresh sea urchin and salmon topping. Since the sole use of the pot is to cook kamameshi, kamameshi is usually eat-out food when most family does not own enough pots. We were told to enjoy the unami topping first, then to mix the rice with the fish soup.
In Rock Salt, there are only 10 pots, leading to possibly long waiting time. Overall we did not actually try the taste of kamameshi because it was served after all the meat and cheese dishes which would have covered the taste of the mild rice. Fair comments could not be made.
