This used to be one of my favourite restaurants in TKO area, given that they used to have good oysters and good steaks. Thus, I recommended this place for our celebratory dinner of my friend's birthday. We got seated immediately as I made a booking via OpenRice. The oysters and the entrees were as good as ever, except for their new dish that combined mushroom and goat cheese. We were excited for the steak, as we were all avid carnivores and loved a good steak. The waiter told us it was a big US OP Rib steak that's worth over 1000hkd. Since it was a birthday celebration, we decided to take it and requested for it to be done MEDIUM. It looked pretty nice when they presented to us, and then they took it away to carve. Lo and behold, when they put it back on our table, we saw that it was RAW inside. The type of raw as if you saw it fresh from the butcher. We called their attention and returned it, saying that we requested for medium and asked them "does this look like it's medium". They returned the dish after a few minutes, and we soldiered thru it even if it's still a little too bloody for our taste. The picture is the last piece that we just couldn't eat anymore because it still seemed RAW. We called the manager and showed the piece to him, saying that we had already returned the dish previously. He only said that he will talk to the kitchen staff.
When we got the receipt, we were expecting a small discount given the steak mishap. But noooo, we were charged full price! We had to call another waiter to ask if they could give us a discount given that the most expensive item in our bill was so disappointing and that we had complained twice already. They eventually relented and gave us 10% discount (the waiter was very nice and he seemed to be very embarrassed of the situation and tried his best to appease us).
I felt awful for recommending the place for our friend's birthday celebration, and we will NOT be returning any time soon. I usually avoid complaining and just try to enjoy the food served to me; however, this time just couldn't avoid complaining 3x because of how badly they treated that expensive steak.
