Koi has been a restaurant that I will go to every now and then. I consider myself a repeat patron. In my last visit, I was given a coupon to dine at Koi with a maturity date of 31Dec09. The coupon allows for a discount provided that you spend HK$200 dining in with the exception of "public holidays." I subsequently went there for lunch on a Sunday. When I challenged how Sat and Sun could possibly be defined as public holiday which typically refers to festive holidays officially designated by the government for which this information is also available on the government's official website, I was told simply that it is "group policy."
I question whether there is a genuine lack of misinterpretation of the English language by the restaurant owner when they designed the coupon or whether this is another one of those dishonest gimmicks to lure customers into the restaurant only to tell them that the discount is not valid?
It is worth losing confidence of a regular patron in this manner?
