Having the big name of “Water Gate Chicken Rice” and always on a long queue outside the restaurant since opening, I have had high expectation on the food. Walking by in the noon, I was able to skip that line and dine in without any wait. Within 10 minutes, here comes the food - it looks normal and smaller in portion. The taste is rather salty and a lot like containing MSG in the soup (not sure). Chicken is not tender nor juicy. I like source most cos it tastes like nowhere else! All in all, since the price is really reasonable I could have no complaint! However, even it worths the price, it doesn’t worth the wait, in particular that I know in local cultural people queue up for the hype.
In conclusion, this would just be another hype for people who miss a lot of the real water gate chicken rice. But I definitely know a lot of place that serves better chicken rice in HK🤓.
