Lovely place--we walked in on a busy Friday evening at 6pm and were seated immediately, although the place filled up immediately afterwards. If you do not plan to make reservations at least one day ahead (no same-day reservations), think it's probably best to go early. My favorite dish was the roasted beef tongue--so well-marbled, tender, juicey and thinly sliced, each piece seems nearly transparent and gloriously bathed in its own gease. My favorite dish was the roasted beef tongue--so well-marbled, tender, juicey and thinly sliced, each piece seems nearly transparent and gloriously bathed in its own gease. The stuffed boneless chicken wings were a fun surprise too--it wasn't clear from the menu what the wings were stuffed with, so when we bit into them and encountered a sort of slightly spicey, kimchi-paste tasting inner, we were pleasantly surprised. The Japanese egg cakes (slightly sweet and filled with layers) were very nicely done, so we ordered two different kinds.
the food was pretty good but I like the decor of this place the best--the space was open and friendly and perfect for gatherings among large groups of friends, and the large, colorful Japanese paintings on the walls were fun backdrops to lively table conversations. Usually I don't notice the seatings in restaurants unless they are particularly distinctive in some way, and the plush, high-backed dining chairs in this place deserve a particular mention.
