Kwun Tong is an interesting place. If you go beyond APM, you can find a lot of action inside factory buildings. Shops selling everything from clothes to beef and various restaurants and cafes of all shapes and sizes. Some pretty fancy ones, too.On this day, came with boyfriend to Factory 99. A restaurant located in, yes, a factory building. Located near APM, you'll know you find this place when you find a hallway with various interesting sign posts. Inside is a cafe like setting that serves a mix of Western and Chinese rolled into one. Only here you can get a set that includes spaghetti bolognese with Chinese soup. Menu is in Chinese and English.I ordered the set lunch which includes a main, soup of the day and drink. I chose fish cutlet with fresh fruit salad/fries or potato salad for $59. I chose fruit salad to go with this.
Set came with Chinese soup. Soup was ok. It seeemed to be a mix of pork with lotus and almonds. Generally, the typical soup that is given at most restaurants with given the set soup.
I was surprised with the fruit salad came as at first I thought it would be the typical Hong Kong salad, but it was actually fresh salad greens and fresh fruit. The salad was pretty good. The fruit was exceptionally sweet. There was two pieces of fried fish. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Pretty good fried fish. Boyfriend noted I should have ordered fries but I was in the mood for salad that day.
Decent food with generous portions at a low price. Service is a bit cha chan teng like and it does get pretty busy. A good alternative for food other than APM.
