Have tried the Gejang (醬油蟹) in Korea last year and fallen in love with it since then. Instead of going all the way to Korea for it, I'm so excited to know there's a restaurant offering authentic Korean Gejang in Jordan. I have made a phone reservation to order their Gejang a week in advance. It is funny to know that they don't take table reservations for weekend but allow us to reserve their Gejang- what if the restaurant is full but we have already reserved their food? Fortunate enough, we arrived the restaurant early enough that there wasn't a lot of people waiting. It is a tiny and packed restaurant that could only accommodate around 30 people.
Gejang(醬油蟹) ($258)
Gejang is a popular korean dish that is made by marinating fresh raw crabs with soy sauce, and sided by chili, garlic and onions.
The Gejang also came with steamed rice topped with crispy seaweeds. The crab was marinated just right, not too salty. One of the traditional way of having Gejang is adding the rice into the crab shell- mix it up with the marinade and crab roe inside. Though I think the crab wasn't as big as the one I had in Korea, this one was still nice enough
Seafood Tteokbokki ($128)Heard from our friends, other dishes at Jeokgong were as impressive as their renowned Gejang dish. We ordered their Seafood Tteokbokki and it came in a very generous portion. The taste is average- seafood and rice cakes cooked with the very typical cheesy sweet-spicy korean sauce.
