It's been pretty hot all summer long and our friends (about six of us in total) were craving for hotpot season to start. As it's STILL so hot and October has arrived, we decided to hotpot anyways and found one with strong air conditioning. I booked a table so we didn't have to wait and we were informed that we had two hours to dine but we wouldn't be kicked out unless there was someone waiting for a table.Hawkers Centre had a dai pai dong theme with a signature soup base that used chicken and f
Hawkers Centre had a dai pai dong theme with a signature soup base that used chicken and fish maw. For a dai pai dong theme, I kind of expected more. There were a few things here and there, but all in all, it really felt like a regular hot pot restaurant. As we only wanted a normal soup base, we chose a satay and 1000 year old egg and parsley soup base. Soup base was ok though the satay one was very salty.
Menu is in Chinese only. We ordered some beer and it was served in a bowl. Other drinks are sold pre-packaged bottles or cans. They didn't make their own drinks.
We ordered a number of items. Food was fairly decent and seemed fresh. Meat quality was good. But the deep fried bean curd rolls were oddly soggy. We were told that if we wanted seafood, there is a tank on one end of the restaurant to choose from. I think we were too lazy so we stuck to checking things off the menu and skipped the seafood.
Overall, not too bad. Better than we had expected. Service was good and even followed up on an item that was missing without fuss. A good start to hotpot season ahead!
