However, this restaurant strikes a good balance. Located just next to the canal road over pass, the entrance can be easily overlooked, but like most good things in CWB, look up and you will find a plethora of options.
Unlike most other restaurants, when it comes to reviewing a hot pot establishment I guess the biggest factors are food quality, hygene, service and value for money. Flavour on the other hand is difficult to discern given that everything is DYI plus generic flavouring, except the soup base of course.
Quite a large venue, it was well ventilated and unlike other all you can eat places there definitely was not a feeling of being rushed or the restaurant operating beyond capacity. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us to our table which was suprisingly clean.
The food on selection was quite diverse and fresh which is I guess the selling point for this a la carte hot pot. We had the fatty beef (which was generously portioned and appropriately priced) as well as a range of dumpling, veggies and noodles. Although menus can only vary so much between restaurants the good thing about this place was that the food quality was fresh and the soup base was not overly flavoured with processed flavours. The sauces available were also well stocked and selection plentiful.
On the value for money front this place actually ended up cheaper than an all you can eat place. We had plenty of drink (non alcoholic) and food. So this receives a big tick. What we were ultimately most impressed with was that we went dutch on the check and the staff more than adequately handled it (3 credit cards and cash), any other place we would have probably been told to wash the dishes.
Verdict - Easily caters for a large party but I wouldnt venture past 8 on a table. They responded quickly to reservation request and event sent a reminder. Food was fresh and plenty of options to choose from. Venue was clean and staff friendly. We weren't rushed and in the end we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Would be back for sure.
