I am a sucker for a good curry and I was thoroughly pleased with both the food and the service at Manakamana. We went quite early (around 6:30pm) so there was ample seating but by around 7:15pm, things started to get a little busy. We left before 8pm and there was not a single seat available, so if you plan on eating at this place, be sure to get there early or make a reservation. After hearing about how good their momos are, we decided to go ahead and sample the vegetable variety and coupled it

After hearing about how good their momos are, we decided to go ahead and sample the vegetable variety and coupled it with an order of their samosa chaat. In addition to these two starters, we ordered two mains: daal makhani and the Gurkha chicken (which is cooked in beer). To accompany these dishes, we ordered a mint naan bread and rice with cumin seeds and had the usual lassis and cool sodas to wash it all down.

We didn't wait long for the food and everything came to the table hot. Portion-wise, helpings were generous. Thankfully, nothing was too spicy, although there was some kick at the end of the samosa chaat dish but it worked very well with the associated ingredients.

Being the pigs we are, we wanted to also try their desserts. We decided to go with the kulfi and the gulaab jamun. I would have to say, if you are looking for great kulfi, this is the place to go. I don't think I have ever had such delicious kulfi in my life and I will most certainly be heading back there to order some more of it. The gulaab jamuns were a more subdued taste after the treat of the kulfi, but were piping hot and the texture of each ball was chewy and adequately seasoned.

For the three of us, we paid HKD150 per head for two starters, two mains, a plate of rice and a plate of naan, three non-alcoholic drinks and two desserts. We left not only totally satisfied but incredibly bloated (in a good way!) too. We will definitely be heading back there and will hopefully be making this a regular haunt for frequent curry cravings
