One day, boyfriend proclaimed we haven't had Japanese all you can eat for a long time now. And I realized he was right. We wanted to try somewhere new and I did some research. We finally decided on 神輿日本料理 (English name: Mikoshi Japanese Restaurant). It was located in a building that seemed to have a number of all you can eat restaurants. The decor of the restaurant was quite nice with cute "houses" for more private dining. The decor of the restaurant was quite nice with cute "houses" for more private dining. The place was fairly large. There was lot of seating and it filled up even on a Monday night.
In the center, near the entrance is the dessert area where you can get ice cream. The staff will scoop it for you so you don't have to struggle away.
They also have various cakes as well. All help your self.
The prices were listed clearly outside the restaurant. It's all you can eat for two hours. of dining. Price is dependent on what time slot you enter. There is also an option for all you can drink alcohol for $28.
You check off what you want from and how many from items found inside this very intimidating menu book. Items are in English and Chinese. It's also neatly organized.
They have uni available in either warship or handroll form. It's available in a separate form that they hand to you. I guess it's more limited. We tried a handroll. The amount was super tiny. I could hardly see it but it tasted really good. Very fresh and sweet. The nori was crispy as well.
The sashimi was very fresh and good quality. Even second rounds of this, they still gave us good quality sashimi. Trust me, I've been to some where the first order was quite good and the second order was terrible. Not the case here.
Random appetizers were pretty good. Noteworthy is the marinated mini octopus.
The maki rolls were so cute and tiny. But I guess it's a good thing items are small because then then it gives us more space to eat more, right?
Various other sushi items were also tiny in size but very good quality.
The skewers were pretty good and well seasoned. The black pepper pork was the standout. It was so moist and tender. The beef cubes were excellent, too along with the super sweet pineapple.
The fried items were ok. Shrimp was a bit too oily for my liking. But the chicken wings were delicious. My favorite was the cheese mochi.
Along with ice cream, we tried some cakes. But I wanted to point out these two, The Hoikkaido Milk pudding (on the left) was rich and creamy. The Jasmine lychee jelly (on the right) was fantastic and possibly my favorite. It was just light and fragrant with a slight sweetness from the lychee.
Service is fast. Orders come out very quickly and nothing was left out. The staff clear off your empty plates quickly as well. Food is good quality. The place is clean and not cramped. Will definitely be back.
