Cafe 1950, a hidden gem amongst the other restaurants and shops around Yiu On Estate. I was walking around looking for dinner on a weekday and wooden facing of the restaurant attracted me.  I wasted no time in waiting for a seat on a weekday for dinner. The cafe was of a medium size.  I love the vintage, retro decorations, esp the lamps hanging from the celing that have the cover of an old fashioned fan. The waiter quickly assigned a table to us and kindly introduced the specialties of the cafe while letting us to have a look at the menu. I was surprised by the varieties of dishes available- from pork ribs, pork knuckles, to sphaghetti and seafood rice. At the end, We ordered two of the specialties (pork and beef), a salad and ravioli.

you may think that it is a weird combination with poached egg and salad but they go well pretty nice together
My fav part of this salad was the bacon crumbs that added crunchy texture to this very fresh dish! Portion-wise, it was okay to be shared by 2 people.

Really looked forward to this one as I loveee black truffle. This dish appeared a bit off though, i have to say. : \ The cream sauce was very think and shiny? The puffy Ravioli looked as if they were overcooked. The smell though was good. I could smell the beautiful fragrant of black truffle. However, I could not taste it at all: ( probably the ravioli was cooked with black truffle oil?

Recommended by the waiter. I really looked forward to. The tenderloin was served on a plate instead of a hotplate like i had expected. On a cold day, it could get cold very quick. Other than that, the beef was really tender and juicy : ) It was also easy to cut and chew. This dish could be improved by serving on a hotplate and heating up the sauce.

Save the best for the last! This highly recommended baby back ribs was indeed the highlight of the dinner! Lovely hot fries of the perfect size!! At first i was worried about the huge portion of the back ribs, however, the portion of meat was just right for 2 minus all the ribs in between.
The meat was soft, juicy, nicely marinated with bbq sauce just like how the ones you have at restaurants overseas. The side salad was a thoughtful touch to refresh this heavy meal. Love it! 

My advice: Ask about the specialties and order them!! Cant go wrong w them !
will come bk n try others.
