Met boyfriend near his home on my day off and he hadn't eaten yet. He took me to 鵝來了 (English name: Goolala) as it was a new restaurant in his neighborhood.It was a bright yellow and black restaurant with fun little graphics on the walls. Tea sets come with a cup of soymilk. It was ok. A bit on the sweet side.
We chose two tea sets. This is noodles with wonton and braised pig's ear ($35). I chose vermicelli. The noodles were fine though the soup just tasted like MSG. The wontons were ok and mostly pork meat. The pig's ear was horrible! They were so hard. I couldn't even chew it apart and we left it untouched.
The other set was rice with Chiu Chow style braised goose breast and beef tripe ($38). The rice was a bit too soft but the star of the show should have been the goose. It was bland in flavor and bit too chewy. The beef tripe also did not have much flavor.
The place was clean and tidy. Prices not expensive. But the food was terrible. No wonder it was empty despite it being a new place. Won't be back.
