I went to the bar/lounge in Vea during happy hour, where there were plenty of bar snacks and innovative cocktails on the menu. Of course, I have always wanted to go to the restaurant but I thought I would dip my toe in the bar first. I loved the experience. The happy hour deal was great, as it was HKD80 for drinks that would have cost about HKD110 and over. All the creative cocktails were served with flair and had a foodie twist. The "I am your father" drink was served in a darth vader shaped cup and was an espresso martini with bacon, playing on breakfast. It was strong and refreshing. The "cleopatra formosa" was sweet and a bit sour and served in a golden pineapple. The "quail's nest" also had a similar sweet sour flavor profile, though was smoother in texture, and was served in a nest with marshmallows. Incredibly presented.

We even had a few snacks, including the pork belly bao - it was delicious with a good balance of flavors. I especially like how it had a spicy note rather than a sweet note of other pork baos you get in town. As we were going for dinner somewhere else after I was still very curious about some other snack like the oyster mushroom 'spaghetti' but it will have to wait for next time.

I don't know when I'll be able to afford the HKD1,480 8-course tasting menu in the Restaurant but I know I'll be back for the happy hour!
