泰妹 (English name: Thai Mui Restaurant) started as part of the Hong Kong government's food truck project. But after a while, they created their own actual restaurant that is located in Kwun Tong's The Wave building. A building with other restaurants and known for it's interesting weekend craft markets. We came across it as we were looking for something else and saw this new restaurant. Seeing as it was dinner time, we decided to eat here.There are two areas to this restaurant. It started to fill
There are two areas to this restaurant. It started to fill up so they shoveled us off to the other area. It had a nice fun design.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. They also offer a two people set dinner menu but we weren't too interested.
I had the Hainan chicken rice ($52). The rice was very yellow in color but it wasn't as fragrant as it looked. It wasn't overly oily and portion was generous. The chicken was ok. Moist and tender. But not a lot of flavor.
Boyfriend ordered the Thai Basil Chili Minced Pork with Fried Egg and Rice ($52). This was really spicy. So spicy, it over took all other flavor. The fried egg was a bit over fried in my opinion. I like the yolk a bit more runny. But this was just cooked right through.
The food was ok. Price was not too expensive and portions were generous. A nice option to choose from if we are in the Kwun Tong area.
