This Shanghai restaurant has been opened quite awhile, it always at the back of my mind to try yet forgotten. Passing by in the late afternoon, I did not feel hungry even skipping lunch. Persuaded by my friend that we have been wanting to give this small restaurant a try, we went in.

Looking at their lunch/ afternoon tea sets, it was surprisingly appetising, worth and in varieties. I was impressed. Despite I claimed having an empty stomach, we ordered three sets, pork chop dan dan noodle, simmered noodle with tender chicken and vegetables shredded cake. All sets included hot/cold soy milk or a cup of hot drink.

Pork chop dan dan noodle was serving with a pungent peanut butter smell. Nevertheless, it didn't taste that strong peanut flavour. Noodle texture was just right. Not too soft or tough. Soup wasn't nutty as it smelled, wasn't as spicy as it looked, not as thick as some other restaurants served. It was boiling hot. Noodle was topped with very few spring onions and peanuts. It will be appreciated if more scallions were loaded to bring a hint of freshness in such a strong flavour dish.
Pork chop was in thin crispy coating. Looked like greasy that absorbed oil, in fact crispy and dry. Pork chop was seasoned well and tender. Juicy and moist. Not bad.

Simmered noodle with shredded chicken was serving in a boiling hot big bowl. Literally waited for 5 minutes before having my first bite. It was loaded with shredded vegetables and chicken pieces. Chicken was nicely diced in cubes and perfectly cooked. Vegetables gave a crunch while cooked just right which still in bright green. Noodle was soft and a bit sticky. Tasted just like the traditional ones. Portion was huge. Soup was light, creamy and savoury. Very delicious.

Vegetable shredded cake was kind of a disappointment. Totally different from what I expected or I didn't aware some kind of traditional Shanghai street food. It was a scallion roti or some said pancakes wrapped in a heavily dressed salad. Salad was made of shredded cucumber, tomato slices and lettuce. I scooped so much dressing before my first bite. Vegetables were very fresh paired with the crispy fresh made pancakes, it was alright. Not soggy as I thought but just not what I felt like or I expected. Pancake itself was nice, salad without that amount of dressing was nice, but eating in a combo, it felt not as a good match.

Anyway, mains were served with quality, I would try their dumplings and stir fry on my next visit which I was pretty looking forward just by looking at those serving beside me. Staff were nice and efficient. Hard working and communicating well. Restaurant was well designed with many cute Chinese traditional lamps, chopsticks, decorations and paints. Most importantly, their lunch/afternoon tea sets were serving daily including weekend and public holidays, that was pretty appealing and very worthy.
Highly recommended!
