Never ever be adventurous - especially when it comes to Korean food.

Date/time of visit: 8/7 Friday 7pm

Reason for going: My friend just returned from Toronto and she wanted to try out some Korean food. I usually do my homework to come on Openrice to search for most popular places, but this time I wanted to try my luck. And guess what, I failed completely.

It was 7pm and we hurried as we walked to the "Korean Street", in hope for some unoccupied seats during the start of the dinner period. As recommended by my good friend previously, nearly every restaurants located at the "Korean Street" were pretty decent and they won't disappoint you much. So my friend and I tried our luck for the least occupied restaurant, and turned out to be Azumma that offered us a seat among another few.

Atmosphere: We were taken to the sub-restaurant (by the side of the main one) and it wasn't too big. Luckily we didn't have to share the table with other customers (as we clearly stated that). The setting wasn't bad, with a bit of decorations on the wall. However, our seat wasn't as nice as we thought - it was just next to the cashier. Totally disappointed - even though it was a dinner hour, my friend and I met up for some catching up especially for this occasion

Food: We chose a 燒牛肉飯 each and a 辣炒年糕 as snack.
Side dishes: few choices and too little provided

The cucumbers were nice - sweet and a bit of spicy flavoured. The kimchi was poor - taste a bit sour, worser than the ones I bought from supermarket.

The 燒牛肉飯 was quite horrible..I dare to say the worst one I ever eaten out of most Korean restaurants I've been in Tsim Sha Tsui. The portion of rice far exceeded the meat - as a consumer, I felt like I was cheated. The meat was overcooked, slightly dried. Too much glass noodles were served with the meat and again, I felt like I was having another Korean dish named - Fried glass noodles with vegetables and beef instead! OMG!

The 辣炒年糕 was slightly better but failed upon my expectation too
The flavour was right and the vegetables and rice turnip were chewy and well-cooked. Yet...wouldn't the portion be considered too small when it was around HKD$75? I'm certain that I can find something similiar to this price range but with a bigger portion - and probably better ingredients too! The boiled egg hardened and it failed to blend in with the other ingredients on the plate.. we didn't bother to finish it.
Only Coke, Sprite and Pear juice available

To wrap up, I would never come back again. I rather go to 明洞 around the corner of the "Korean Street" than visiting Azumma again. To me, both are served in a fastfood style but 明洞 is so much better and worth the money. At least I won't feel cheated as a consumer.
