It is not easy to find a quality birthday cake in that part of TST. After searching awhile, I thought even a detour of 15 mins walk should be worth it given how well known their Palmiers, their Napoleon cakes can't be too bad.Fine foods has an online service which is very helpful and surprisingly, they have plenty of varieties to choose from for Napoleon and prices are reasonable for a hotel cake shop. Even though the online service didn't work at the time, I did it over the phone and the gentleman was very polite and efficient in jotting down the details.
With high hopes etc on the collection day, the Mixed Berries Napoleon cake looked beautiful as expected. Unfortunately, this was probably one of the least favourite cake I had for months.
The pastries weren't crispy at all, that was kind of shocking for a place known for palmiers.
Custard was tasteless and only the berries were good.
I have tried napoleon from top rated hotels to ordinary cake shop but Fine Foods' one was just pure disappointment and a few of my friends didnt' finish theirs.
