Appreciate the unique tall ceiling European-style bistro ambience with classy open bar. Can imagine if weather is cooler, sitting in the al-fresco with breeze will be great. With all the foreign waiters, you feel like you are situated in a Belgium Pub. The bistro was full upon arrival at around 730pm. Crowded room with loud music was a bit too noisy. It be great if the music volume can be lowered in the evening.
The Pub environment influenced one to drink a beer and chill out with friends after a tiring working day. Am not a beer expert so I picked one classy Hoegaarden Draught and a Belgian Beer- Leffe Blonde Draught. The cool drink brought away stress. Yet, the sharing table with another 2 people was a bit too cramped. Suggest the table to be split a bit further to allow some privacy.
As we only got 2 people, we just ordered a Classic Caesar Salad and a Mussel Pot. Generous salad portion. Yet, it be better if the Parmesan can be sliced more properly. The big bites of cheese, as you can see in the picture, made the salad way too heavy. Also, more crouton can be added. I guess they were using olive oil-based vinaigrettes thickened with raw eggs so it felt less evil than eating mayonnaise Caesar Dressing. Yet, at the same time, personally think it was lesstasty.
First time bringing my friend here so we tried the traditional Frites House Mussels. Once, the mussel pot here was my favorite. Once, the mussel pot was with heavy Garlic onion and chives flavor and I just couldn’t stop dipping the fries and toast into the sauce. Yet, the mussel pot was way too disappointing during this visit. The sauce was not creamy and the pot was not hot enough. An Anniversary dessert plate was ordered. No extra charge was charged and we have ordered Dame Dame Blanche. There was supposed to be 3 scopes: white and milk chocolate poured over vanilla ice cream with chantilly and nut crumbs. Yet, they screwed up to write proper chocolate wordings on the plate. Also, the 3 scopes of cream just melted so quickly… The store manager felt sorry for the mess so he simply gave the desserts out for free. This action was appreciated. No picture was taken as you can just imagine it was like melting snow with some mud on side =.=
My management professor once said one of the reasons for McDonald’s success was because of its food quality maintenance. There was 4 Frites Belgium on Tap Branches in Hong Kong now. To further extend its branch, consistent food quality was one of the issues that must be solved.
