It’s so cold these day therefore the hotpot restaurants are all very packed. Tonight I went to this restaurant which originally served Japanese food but now they served hotpot as well as the weather is cold. Coconut chicken hotpot:
The staff recommended us to try out their new coconut chicken hotpot as they used special ingredients for it. Firstly, they fried the chicken with the coconut in the pot then added a whole fresh coconut juice into it. After that, they added the special milky soup which was specially made to bring out the chicken flavour. The staff also added some Chinese wine and put it on fire for a few seconds to bring out the flavour.
The chicken was smooth and tender. We drank a bowl of soup before cooking other things. The soup was so concentrated and had a rich flavour.
Premium beef:
Beef is a must order item for every hotpot lover. These premium beef were freshly cut after ordering. They looked fresh and presented nicely on the plate. The texture was smooth and soft to chew. I didn’t cook it for long otherwise it will be chewy.
Crab stick:
These crab sticks need special attention, if we overcook them, they will break into pieces. They were very tasty and soft to chew.
Wonton & golden balls:
I was very happy with the wonton and golden balls because you can ordered half portions. The wonton was smooth and meaty. There was shrimp in each one of them. I was surprised with the golden ball, there was a salty egg yolk inside each of them. It was special and quite unique.
Coral mussel:
I don’t know if that’s what you call it but it is actually the intestine of the sea cucumber. Anyway, it is orange in colour and tasted very good. This is the first time that I have this for hotpot. They were fresh and sweet! The texture was crunchy. I really like them!
As for drink, we got the Chinese sweet bamboo hot drink, in Chinese saying, it helps with “hot air”. It was sweet and kept us nice and warm.
