It's interesting that there are 2 teppanyaki restaurants that are really closed by in Tseung Kwan O. I tried both and found that Teppanyaki Mihara emphasizes on traditional Japanese experience and I was lucky to have Japanese Head Chef assigned to my table at my visit whilst Maboroshi is more on the fusion side.Frankly, I was in doubt when the restaurant requested a $1,000 deposit coz none of the teppanyaki restaurants except Michelin one in Tai Hang had done that before. Frankly, I was in doubt when the restaurant requested a $1,000 deposit coz none of the teppanyaki restaurants except Michelin one in Tai Hang had done that before. The staff explained that they have to prefer the fresh ingredients based on actual # of diners and the deposit can avoid the loss on no show. OK, I just played along.
The overall experience is up to par, no complaint on the food or service. There are 5 types of seafood and they are all super fresh. Just a little comment on their signature cod fish dish, personally I prefer it to have a clean taste instead of simmering in a truffle sauce. The sauce was too overwhelming and covered the original taste. Given the price they charged at $1,488/pax everything was decent just no wow effect.
