Went to this place for lunch during the Mid Autumn Festival holiday. I read from food magazines that the attic seats are "cozy", "lots of privacy", "really special" .....etc. So we headed upstairs but found the whole area rather dark and groomy. Not attractive at all! In the end we managed to find a booth downstairs. It was much brighter downstairs, and believe me, in this kind of eating places, it is better that the interior is as bright as possible. As pork chop rice ($37) is very famous here,
As pork chop rice ($37) is very famous here, we did not hesitate to order one to share. We also ordered a French Toast ($22) and Hot Milk Tea.
The French Toast arrived first. To my disappointment it was deep fried and very greasy. We were not impressed.
The milk tea was average "tea restaurant" standard, OK.
The Pork Chop Rice took 15 min to arrive, proving that it was prepared on the spot. The portion was hugh! Definately enough for two unless you are very hungry. The pork chop was tendered enough and quite tasty. the fried rice that served together was also OK. But I guess I was expecting to much.
When it come to tea restaurant (Cha Chuan Tian), particularly those that are more than 20 years old, a lot of people have soft spot to it and tend to forgive the mediocre food, the filthy enviroment, the poor service.... Why is that? I cannot understand.
