I love this restaurant! I love having tourists visit me because it gives me an excuse to go here. The food is so good. I think we come here 3 times a year. Most restaurants in HK completely lack attention to ambiance, mood and the overall dining experience. Hutong gets it. They don't pretend to be a fine dining restaurant, the waiters leave you alone after you get your food. I think it is understood that the items you are ordering are just regular, common fare, but most of it is done with care.

On this particular occasion we ordered shrimp sauteed with chili peppers, stir fried beef with vegetables, along with Dandan noodles and the mango pudding for dessert. The shrimp tasted reasonably fresh and they added just the right amount of spice. I know it's regular fare, but it's so nice that it wasn't over-salted, over-stale or overly spicy. The dessert was kind of bland. I would have preferred a mango sago from the street vendors, but otherwise the meal was great. The total bill was very reasonable.Oh, Their drinks menu is pretty awesome. I'm still trying to replicate that anise honey drink they have. Everytime I go there I try a new drink and I never leave disappointed.
The food is shockingly good given that it is a hip modern restaurant and the views are unparalleled by anywhere else in the city. I love how the restaurant doesn't take itself too seriously, and just allows us to have a good time.
