My old classmates were having our monthly gathering last weekend. I was running late that day, and when I arrived, I saw that we were seated at a tall table with bar stools. There wasn't enough seating for the 10 of us (including the baby in the stroller); there were only 8 bar stools. The organizer, who went early to wait for a table, told me that the staff at the cafe said that this is the only table that could accommodate the 10 of us. I looked around and saw that there were plenty of tables that could have been pushed together to seat 10 people. Our table was the only tall table in the whole cafe, so we couldn't even sit really close to each other and add more bar stools as they only had the 8 bar stools.
While I was looking at the drinks menu, the organizer said that the cake cutting fee at the cafe is $120 and asked if I was ok with it? I just noted that it's a little steep to charge $120 for cake cutting as a cafe, but since there were 8 of us splitting the charge, it's not too bad.
After looking at the drinks menu, I decided to order the Strawberry Tea Latte (Iced). It took close to half an hour for my drink to arrive, and we had to check with them twice to remind them that my beverage was missing. This happened to quite a few of our orders, not only did they take a long time to arrive, we had to keep checking with them to make sure the orders were placed because everytime we asked to check on the order, the servers had no clue as to what we ordered.

After everyone arrived and received our orders, we had the cake that we brought. The staff gave us the cake, along with some forks and plates. Actually, we did the cake cutting ourselves. The manager helped us take a few group photos, so that was the only saving grace service-wise.
My group of classmates meet up regularly to celebrate the birthday stars of each month, and there are restaurants that we go back to year after year. However, Bricklane is one that has been blacklisted by us as we always bring a cake to our gatherings and the cake-cutting fee is too steep at Bricklane, and the service was disappointing.
