My experience may have been a little different compared to what the other reviewers had. I came here with some coworkers for lunch on one of their suggestions. It's a bit of a hole in the wall and tough to find, but once you go in, it's like you have suddenly appeared in another country. Despite the poor Japanese of the greeter, you could see that there are quite a few Japanese customers. This place is famous for their set 4, so naturally, we ordered 4 sets of set 4s. Despite the poor Japanese of the greeter, you could see that there are quite a few Japanese customers. This place is famous for their set 4, so naturally, we ordered 4 sets of set 4s. The wait time was a little lengthy, but bearable.
When our meal came, it came in a beautiful set that was nicely arranged. Now, mind you that I love spicy food, but the salad is amazing with the wasabi dressing. It gives it a light kick that compliments the zest of the lemon juice. As the salad was bottomless, i actually ordered several portions of it to also eat it with the sesame dressing. The miso soup was extremely salty, even compared to other miso soups. In all honesty, I got a bit of a headache after drinking it.
The culet was very thick. I would have preferred a thinner and longer slice, but that's my personal opinion. It tastes vet good with the tonkatsu sauce, but even better if you add the Japanese mustard. If you look closely, each slice of cutler will have some fat in it which gives it that delicious and savory aroma. Finally, to finish it off, is the egg. Personally, I would have liked more ingredients in the egg, but the preparation of the egg was very nice, smooth, and milky for a pleasant surprise.
While not the cheapest meal, it was quite affordable and worthwhile compared to other tonkatsu restaurants.
