Today I finally had the chance of tasting the legendary "Tears ice-cream" everyone has been talking about lately. However with minimal sense of direction, my friends and I found the store after a 15-minute walk. We were sweating like crazy after the long walk, and we couldn't wait to try out the ice-cream. However with minimal sense of direction, my friends and I found the store after a 15-minute walk. We were sweating like crazy after the long walk, and we couldn't wait to try out the ice-cream.
Luckily, no one was lining up for the ice-cream. When we got in, the saleslady kindly asked us how many cones we wanted. Then she swiftly handed us the cones.
Taste & Texture
The cone was really pretty, the blue ice-cream matched with the black waffle cone perfectly. It had a milky taste with a hint of salt. It didn't taste like what I imagined. It was too sweet and milky to resemble "tears".
The texture was runny and sorbet-like like others mentioned. It didn't bothered me much for I'm a fast eater, but my friends suffered from ice-cream running down their hands (ew). It'd be much better if the ice-cream had a richer and creamier texture.
Yet, I don't really like the cone as it tasted like bitter burnt coffee (excuse my poor description).
Value
It's on the cheap side comparing to all the ice-cream/ froyo shops in HK.
All in all, it's worth trying at a price of HK$10 and it's a creative idea to bring such "strange"-flavored soft serve (especially in HK). But I won't go there again in the near future.
