Although the truly authentic European Jewish bagel is almost an artifact of history, in the US the bagel has evolved into a rather tasty and versatile bread, made with a nod to its smaller, chewier, high-gluten ancestor. R&R, surprisingly and rather uniquely for Hong Kong, serves a small variety of quite passable bagels.

My standard favorites are plain or Everything bagels, double toasted (crunchy but still chewy enough) with plain cream cheese. R&R's version of a toasted Everything bagel with plain cream cheese was almost exactly what I would expect at a typical bagel shop in any major US city.

The shop itself is quite roomy, with plenty of seating (at least at 3:30pm, when I visited). Other customers were ordering coffee. While I was there the owner (manager?) was training an employee quite meticulously in how to use the high end espresso machine, so made a note to try one of their caffeinated beverages to wash down a bagel on my next visit.
